Baby Immunisation Schedule: What to Expect

The UK baby immunisation schedule protects infants from serious i**ious diseases early in life. The schedule is regularly updated, and for babies born on or after 1 July 2024, there are important changes starting July 2025 and January 20261.

Key Immunisation Appointments and Vac**es

*The 18-month appointment is new for children born on or after 1 July 2024, starting January 20261.

What’s Changing?

• MenB vac**e’s se**d dose moves from 16 to 12 weeks for earlier protection.


• PCV13 (pneumococcal) vac**e’s first dose moves from 12 to 16 weeks.


• Hib/MenC vac**e at 1 year is dis**tinued; protection against MenC **tinues later in childhood.


• New 18-month appointment introduces a booster of the 6-in-1 and se**d MMR dose, repla**g the previous timing at 3 years 4 months1.

What to Expect at Each Visit

• Multiple i**ions and oral drops may be given at each appointment.


• Bring your child’s Red Book (personal child health record) to record vac**es.


• Mild side effects like fever, swelling, or fussiness are **on and usually short-lived.


• Serious reactions are rare.
